Transportation tariffs and contracts, 1945-[Ongoing].

The Public Service Commission functions to supervise and regulate public transportation and other public utilities in Alabama. These tariffs and contracts are filed separately from the other tariffs of the commission. These records are the original documents whereby the commission authorized the levels of service, rate, and other criteria charges and used by motor carriers in dealing with the citizens of the state. It is common for the commission to investigate complaints and inquiries several years after a tariff is superceded. These companies can be international down to very local in scope. There is also a copy of the Alabama Trucking Association Intrastate Tariff agreement in these records.
